Is it CJ Carr’s Time?

By: Liam Abayasinghe

Ever since CJ Carr commited to the Irish program in 2022, he became the most touted quarterback prospect for the Irish since Gunner Kiel and Jimmy Clausen. When Carr committed to the Irish he was a unanimous top 50 prospect in the country with recruiting services even ranking him as a top 20 5-star level player. Carr’s commitment to some was a surprise, as it was an expectation of sorts that Carr would continue his family legacy at Michigan, where his grandfather won a national championship and father played. However Carr chose the Irish, with a major influence in the decision being a strong relationship built with then offensive coordinator Tommy Rees. However after Rees left to join the Alabama Crimision Tide, Carr decided to honor his commitment to the Fighting Irish. Flashfoward to his Redshirt Freshman Year, Carr is expected by many as the man who will lead the Irish against the Hurricanes due to his rare arm talent that Notre Dame has for so long lacked in a starting quarterback. But with all this being said, can Carr beat out the more senior Kenny Minchey and become the man to lead the Fighting Irish Football Program?
